Module Installation Tool

Menu:Program | Module installation...

The module installation tool assists you when you install modules from zipped files that you download from the Davar4 web page. This tool's window is not resizable, topmost and modal - you must first close it to be able to continue to work in the main program window.

There are two groups of files that can be installed:

1) Zipped single module file (DBK, LEX, DIC, DWR and NOT). In these cases, information about the file, title, version and copyright notice is available in the preview window:

2) Zipped packages of many files (pictures, audio: mp3+AIX, PDF files, etc. ). For these packages there is no information about the title, version and copyright notice. A list of zipped files with full path to extraction is provided. It is up to the user to decide if the files are already present in the system and if they need to be unzipped:

After you click to Install, all opened modules are closed, the ZIP file is unpacked in \temp\ directory and copied to the \data\ folder. Old files are overwritten. After installation, the module windows are opened as before the installation, except for the results of the search windows.

Typical procedure of installation:

1) Zipped modules are placed in a particular folder, e.g. C:\TEMP\

2) Run the module installation tool

3) Use button "..." and select the zip file that you wish to install. After the selection, you will see information about the modules or files in the zip file (see pictures above).
Note: You can also manually enter the full path to the zipped module and press the "Refresh info" button to see information about the module.

4) Press the "Install" button
If the module file exists already, you will see a message that asks you if you agree to overwrite the existing module file with the new file from the zip archive. Select YES to complete the installation. You will see a message if the installation of the module was successful.

5) Close the module installation tool window when you finish installing all modules. There is no need to restart Davar4. The new modules will be available in the Library Tree.

Information for advanced users:

  • There is no uninstall for modules. You can simply delete modules from \data\ folder (when the program is not running) - the library tree will be updated the next time that the program is re-started.

  • Depending on your library.cfg file, the new modules will be available the next time that you start the program and are placed in predefined positions in the library tree or the "root" of the module folder (e.g. in "Books" root). You can configure the module tree in the Library manager.
